The overall objective is to provide a basis for the development of a "cross-border cancer center" in order to exchange cross-border medical services in the field of prevention and treatment of breast cancer in Southern Denmark and northern Schleswig-Holstein
Objectives
- We establish a Danish-German network of medical, technical and administrative experts, patient organisations and further stakeholders.
- We achieve a mutual understanding of the breast cancer programmes in South Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein.
- We develop a medical, technical, and organisational concept for a "Cross-border Breast Cancer Centre" as well as a long-term benchmark of the breast cancer programmes.
- We verify in a pilot run the feasibility of the cross-border exchange of medical services of radiologists in the field of curative mamma-diagnosis.
- We prepare the large-scale implementation of the "Cross-border Breast Cancer Centre" for the regular cross-border exchange of medical services in the field of the mamma-diagnosis.

News
Lessons learned
28.11.2010 − The vision of a “Common region of best health” has taken shape within the INTERREG 4A project "Cross-border Collaboration on Population Breast Health in South Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein". This mission was the main result of the Final Conference "Cross-border cooperation is the future – Breast Health is an example” on November 24th 2010 at University of Applied Sciences Flensburg, Germany.
Basis for cross-border referral
08.09.2010 − On September 6th 2010, the Project Steering Committee met in Haderslev, Denmark to discuss the pilot run in screening. The second main issue of the meeting was the final project report.
4th clinicians meeting on the 1st of October 2010
03.08.2010 − The 4th clinicians meeting takes place on the 1st of October 2010 from 9:00h to 12:00h in Aabenraa.
Pilot Run started
16.07.2010 − The pilot run in the Cross-border Breast Health Project is now initiated.
